Operation Immunization Chair
Selena Warminski grew up in Michigan within the Detroit Metropolitan area. In 2010, her senior year of high school, a diagnosis of Crohn’s disease forever changed her social, psychological, and dietary habits. With such an abrupt change of everyday life, she found solace in the visits to her local pharmacist. The pharmacist was equipped with knowledge to help facilitate the appropriate tweaks needed to live a healthy life post-diagnosis. The concern and passion that the pharmacist gave to her family exceeded all expectations. It was then that Selena decided she wanted to give back to the pharmacy community and devote her life to helping patients.
Selena graduated from Michigan State University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Science. Throughout the summer months of her undergraduate education, she traveled to Pennsylvania and dedicated her time as a faculty member of an overnight children’s camp. Her role was defined as a fitness instructor, as well as a mentor and role model to all attendees. She thoroughly enjoyed guiding the children to healthy lifestyles and sharing her knowledge about nutrition and physical fitness.
Selena is currently a 4th year pharmacy student at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center College of Pharmacy. She is interested in emergency medicine, pediatrics, and oncology. The University of Tennessee College of Pharmacy has multiple campuses across the state (Memphis, Nashville, and Knoxville). As the SNPhA representative, she continues to strengthen her organization and communication skills by being an ambassador of each University of Tennessee campus to the national body of SNPhA. The past two years she proudly served on SNPhA’s National Public Relations and Operation Immunization sub-committees.
Selena is a member of many clubs and organizations on campus that have a national presence as well as an impact on the surrounding Memphis community. Her extra-curricular activities include American Pharmacists Association (APhA), Kappa Psi Pharmaceutical Fraternity, Psi Chapter (ΚΨ), American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP), Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Society (PLS), Tennessee Society of Student Pharmacists (TSSP), and Junior Leagues of Memphis.
Selena uses many of her experiences to focus on her leadership growth and channeling that energy to growing SNPhA and bettering communities. As the National Operations Immunizations Chair for 2018-2019 year, Selena is excited to help everyone find their Strength In Purpose. She believes that her purpose as the Operations Immunization Chair is to embody the national movement in debunking myths about vaccines and assist in the eradication of vaccine-preventable diseases. Selena is excited to work with SNPhA chapters across the United States to aid in providing immunizations to populations that are in desperate need of them!
